Job summary

Nashville Hip Institute at TOA in Nashville, TN is seeking a Clinical Assistant to join our team and support physicians in delivering high-quality patient care. You will assist with medical history collection, charting, triage calls, and coordinating clinic and surgical schedules to ensure smooth daily operations.

The ideal candidate holds a current licensed clinical credential (RN/LPN or CMA), is proficient with patient communications, and understands workflow in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted clinical license as RN, LPN, Athletic Trainer, or CMA.
• Experience in a physician office or hospital preferred.
• BLS required upon hire.
• Knowledge of clinical research processes a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take thorough medical histories and document chief complaints for examinations and treatments.
• Triage patient calls/emails and provide education as needed.
• Enter patient information accurately into charts and electronic systems.
• Coordinate surgery and clinic schedules; manage referrals as directed by physicians.
• Prepare prescription orders as directed by the physician.

Clinical Assistant:

As a Clinical Assistant your responsibility serves an important role in our holistic patient care by partnering with TOA physicians to ensure that patient care is of the highest effectiveness and quality. Clinical Assistant responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

• Demonstrates exceptional customer service and patient focus to make each patient interaction as positive as possible.
• Perform comprehensive medical history review and obtain chief complaints in preparation for examination and treatment.
• Ensure that all patient information is entered accurately and swiftly into patient charts.
• Triage patient telephone calls/emails by answering questions and providing consultation and education to the patients.
• Prepare prescription orders as directed by physician.
• Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients by educating them on all aspects of the prescribed treatment plan.
• Assist with coordinating surgery and clinic schedules.
• Manage and coordinate physician referral requests.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the clinical research processes.
• Experience in a research setting preferred, but not required.
• You hold a current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Athletic Trainer; or you are a Certified Medical Assistant in accordance with state regulations.
• Experience in a physician office or hospital preferred.
• BLS required upon hire.
