Job summary

SEARHC in Juneau, Alaska is seeking a Clinical Assistant 2 to support a rural ambulatory care clinic. You will perform advanced clinical tasks, obtain vitals, review charts, document medical histories, assist with procedures, and help manage patient flow to maximize provider time and access to care.

You will also perform basic teaching and data entry, and help train staff as needed. The position requires CMA certification, current BLS, and clinical competency within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED – required.
• Certified Medical Assistant certification – required; higher-level cert considered; must obtain CMA within 1 year.
• Current BLS certification – required
• Clinical Competency completed within 3 months of hire and every 3 years – required
• Experience as CMA/CA1 or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare for patient visits by reviewing charts and obtaining necessary forms.
• Obtain and record age-appropriate vital signs and medical history updates.
• Assist with procedures, minor office surgeries, and point-of-care testing.
• Transport patients as needed and maintain clinic flow.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and proper sterilization.
• Operate EMR systems and document patient data accurately.
• Provide basic patient education and discharge instructions as directed by provider.
