Job description

Clinical Assistant

Department of Pediatrics

The Clinical Assistant will:

1. Complete required clinical duties during patient visits.
2. Set up and assist with procedures, coordinating any special testing or procedures.
3. Track patient results according to practice criteria.
4. Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures, including the location and use of emergency equipment, and demonstrate procedures to ensure patient safety in emergencies and disasters.
5. Maintain the smooth flow of the department by ensuring orderliness.
6. Ensure patient safety at all times.
7. Report necessary information and unusual occurrences per policy and procedure.
8. Participate in Quality Assurance activities and implement changes based on QA or national recommendations.
9. Assist with front desk duties: prepare charts, file, answer phones, schedule appointments when clinical duties are complete or upon manager’s request.
10. Develop and maintain good human relations skills.
11. Transport medications, blood products, specimens, and urine samples to and from the Pharmacy, Blood Bank, Lab, and Infusion Center.
12. Properly prepare waste for Stericycle pickup.
13. Order food for patients via CaterTrack and medical supplies via McKesson.
14. Log temperatures for the blanket warmer and medication refrigerator, reporting discrepancies to the manager.
15. Keep the patient area sanitized by cleaning IV pumps and chairs between patients.
16. Assist nurses with overall patient care.

Requirements:

• Experience with medical terminology and data entry.
• Successful completion of Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant training.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

We offer competitive base rates based on job-related experience, internal equity, and industry data. Some positions may include clinical certification pay and shift differentials. Salaries are prorated for part-time roles.
