Job summary

Life Consultants Inc. seeks a Clinical Assessor to evaluate potential clients for services, working closely with Social Workers to ensure compliant processes and best outcomes. This full-time, in-office position is based in Chesapeake, Virginia, with travel to client sites as needed.

The role emphasizes developing treatment plans, conducting comprehensive assessments, and maintaining thorough documentation while aligning with state standards and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Behavioral Health / Social Services required.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registry with Virginia Board of Counseling.
  • Meet Virginia State criteria for LMHP/LMHP-E.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage fluctuating workload.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation of healthcare management services in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Mentor team on practice standards, quality of interventions, and problem resolution.
  • Complete intakes, assessments, treatment plans, service authorizations, and scheduling.
  • Ensure best-practice approaches and innovations address members' needs.
  • Develop and review training content; deliver inter-departmental training as needed.
  • Protect confidentiality of member information and adhere to policies.
  • Manage documentation for services and client records.
  • Drive to hospitals to assess new clients daily.
  • Conduct audits of processes and outcomes.

The Clinical Assessor is responsible for assessing potential clients to see if they are appropriate for services the organization renders. He/She will work closely with the Social Workers & others to ensure consistency and or appropriate processes and procedures are adhered to for the clients best possible outcomes.

(Full- time in office Position)

Fundamental Components:
  • Oversees the implementation of healthcare management services for policies & procedures in accordance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g. DBHDS, state and federal standards and mandates as applicable)
  • Serve as a content model expert and mentor to the team regarding practice standards, quality of interventions, problem resolution and critical thinking
  • Complete intakes, assessments, treatment plans, service authorizations, and schedule/assign employees to clients; follow up on work results and progress regarding client’s goals.
  • Ensure implementation and monitoring of best practice approaches and innovations to better address the member's needs across the continuum of care
  • May develop/assist in development and/review new training content
  • May collaborate/deliver inter and intra-departmental training sessions
  • Protects the confidentiality of member information and adheres to company policies regarding confidentiality
  • Manages resources responsible for identification of members, development and implementation of treatment plans, enhancement of medical appropriateness and quality of care and monitoring, evaluating and documenting of care via client Assessments, Service Authorizations, Continued Stays etc.
  • Develop treatment plans
  • Assesses developmental needs and collaborates with others to identify and implement action plans that support the development of high performing teams
  • Establish an environment and work style that promotes the concept of teamwork, cross product integration, and continuum of care thinking that results in strong performance
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to serve as a model change agent and lead change efforts
  • Create a positive work environment by acknowledging team contributions, soliciting input, and offering personal assistance, when needed
  • Accountable for maintaining, obtaining and completing all documentation that will be required for a client to receive services
  • Will drive frequently to hospitals, and etc to assess new clients on a daily basis
  • Conducts Audits
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in the Behavioral Health /Social Services field
  • Must be registered or eligible for registry with Virginia Board of Counseling
  • Meet Virginia State criteria for LMHP/LMHP-E
  • Work effectively under pressure and temporary increases to workload
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software
  • Strong organizational skills and timely follow‑up to manage complex tasks associated with providing services to multi‑system (e.g. schools, juvenile/adult rehabilitation, children’s administration, and Department of Developmental Disabilities, hospitals,) involved youth/adult and their families
  • Solid communication (written and oral), collaboration and intervention skills
  • Able to effectively and respectfully resolve conflicts
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a multi‑cultural/multi‑ethnic environment
  • Able to balance competing demands and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, volunteers, collaborators, and the general public
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to access clients at many locations and places frequented by clients, such as psychiatric facilities, hospitals, and etc.
  • Position doesn't reimburse for mileage, fuel and or tolls.
  • Position requires working a schedule which includes some weekends & being on call.
