Clinical Area Director - Psychologist (PsyD/PhD)

Position Overview

The Clinical Area Director of Behavioral Health (CAD-BH) at GuideStar Eldercare (GSE) is responsible for deploying, supporting, and optimizing clinical practices involving psychologists, social workers, and mental health counselors across our regions. This role collaborates with operational leaders and the executive team to develop strategy, build infrastructure, and drive growth, efficiency, and financial performance. The CAD-BH ensures consistent quality and outcomes for behavioral health patients and engages in external clinical leadership by building relationships with clients and community leaders. The position requires working at our Corporate office in Crown Point, Indiana, with travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

1. Design and deploy scalable clinical operations and administrative functions across environments.
2. Build relationships with clients and prospects to further GSE's mission.
3. Network with community leaders, colleges, and institutions to attract and retain clinicians.
4. Oversee behavioral health records reviews, chart audits, and peer reviews.
5. Recruit, interview, and hire psychologists, social workers, and counselors.
6. Ensure compliance with productivity standards, quality of services, and evidence-based practices.
7. Maintain documentation standards meeting all policies and accreditation requirements.
8. Participate in policy development for behavioral health clinicians.
9. Travel as needed to client facilities, with potential overnight stays up to 20% of the time.

Qualifications

• Active license as Psychologist PsyD or PhD with at least five years of experience.
• Minimum of three years of management and staff supervision experience.
• Experience in fiscal management and leadership skills.
• Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
• Clinical experience with mental health, substance use disorders, and complex populations.
• Ability to lead, recruit, and retain clinical staff.
• Flexibility, self-awareness, and effective problem-solving skills.
• Ability to pass background checks, hold a valid driver’s license, and have reliable transportation.
