Job summary

ZEISS Group is seeking a Clinical Application Specialist to deliver on-site installation, clinical training, and digital connectivity solutions within the Halifax territory. You will serve as a key liaison between customers and ZEISS, ensuring successful product implementation and ongoing support for ophthalmic instruments and surgical microscopes.

The role requires an undergraduate degree in engineering or life sciences, 3–5 years in ophthalmology clinical/OR settings, fluency in English

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or life sciences is preferred.
  • Experience in ophthalmology clinical/OR settings or diagnostic ophthalmology is a plus.
  • English fluency required; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and technical support to customers within the assigned territory.
  • Deliver on-site clinical applications training and coordinate schedules.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Field Service Engineers and internal teams.
  • Support installation, configuration and deployment of ZEISS equipment and connectivity solutions.
  • Assist surgeons in the Operating Room during procedures as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ZEISS products and educate customers.
  • Document activities in CRM and training records; follow internal procedures.

What's the role?

The Clinical Application Specialist (CAS) is responsible for delivering on-site equipment installation, clinical training, and digital connectivity solutions within the Halifax territory. The role serves as a key liaison between customers and ZEISS, ensuring successful product implementation, ongoing customer support, and timely resolution of clinical and technical needs. The CAS works closely with Sales, Service, and internal teams to provide a high-quality customer experience while maintaining strong product knowledge and identifying potential business opportunities.

Here's what you'll do:
  • Provide clinical and technical support to customers within an assigned territory, serving as a key resource for the effective use of ZEISS products and solutions.
  • Deliver on-site clinical applications training, independently coordinating customer appointments, travel, training schedules, and follow-up support.
  • Work closely with Account Managers, Field Service Engineers, and other internal teams to address customer needs, resolve clinical and technical issues, support installations, and ensure a high level of customer care.
  • Support the installation, configuration, and deployment of ZEISS equipment, Digital products, and connectivity solutions, including data transfer, system integration, site assessments, and troubleshooting.
  • This includes but may not be limited to Ophthalmic Diagnostic Instruments and Surgical Ophthalmology Microscopes.
  • Provide clinical and technical support to surgeons in the Operating Room during surgical procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and ZEISS, coordinating appropriate internal resources and ensuring timely resolution of clinical, technical, connectivity, and administrative inquiries.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of ZEISS products and technologies, provide ongoing customer education and support, and identify and communicate potential sales opportunities to the Account Management team.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to territory realignment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely administrative documentation, including CRM, training records, CPOs, and expense reporting, while adhering to ZEISS procedures, GMP, ISO 9001, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties may include but are not limited to setup and instruction on Zeiss equipment at Convention and/or Seminars, and other management assigned projects.
Do you qualify?
  • Undergraduate degree preferably in engineering or life sciences.
  • Knowledge of the diagnostic and surgical ophthalmology industry, including related capital equipment, is considered an asset.
  • At least three to five (3-5) years of experience in an ophthalmology clinical and Operating Room settings or in the diagnostic ophthalmology industry or comparable experience is considered an asset.
  • Fluent in English.
  • French is preferred.
  • Proven experience in implementing and configuring networking equipment, such as routers, switches and access points.
  • Understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, VLAN, and DNS.
  • Excellent communications skills (written & verbal) and the ability to work with customers in challenging situations is required.
  • Apply knowledge of the diagnostic ophthalmic industry to conduct tailored training for doctors and staff in operation and clinical applications.
  • Ability to follow standard practices & procedures in analyzing data or situations from which answers can readily be obtained.
  • Ability to travel overnight and work occasional weekends.
  • Well organized and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Requires valid driver’s license.
  • Must be comfortable working in operating room environments and providing support during surgical procedures in accordance with hospital protocols and safety requirements.
Working Environment:
  • Travel over weekends and holidays, including domestic and international travel (up to 80%)
  • At times the company may move employees to different locations as requirements change.

  • Ability to lift and or move products (up to 80lbs)
