Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Clinical Administrative Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting health plan members by providing administrative and clinical assistance in navigating their healthcare options, including answering general health plan design questions, coordinating referrals, and assisting with prescription sourcing. The ideal candidate will have experience in an ambulatory clinical environment and be comfortable collaborating with providers and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to general health plan questions for members, providing clear and accurate information.
  • Fax referrals and medical records to healthcare providers on behalf of health plan members to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Assist member with identifying more cost-effective options for their prescription drugs.
  • Assist members with applying for Prescription Assistance Programs (PAPs) to ensure access to necessary medications when not covered by the PBM.
  • Collaborate with direct primary care providers and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care when members are referred to preferred providers and services.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of patient interactions, referrals, and applications.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies while handling patient information.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an ambulatory clinical setting.
  • Prior experience in Prior Authorization and Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) applications is required.
  • Strong understanding of health plan structures and the ability to explain benefits to members.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using a multitude of digital tools, applications, and office software.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including clinical and administrative staff.
  • Self-disciplined and able to effectively manage one's time.
