The College of Nursing at Niagara University seeks part-time Clinical Instructors for pre-licensure Nursing Baccalaureate students in the Traditional 4-year and Accelerated Second Degree Baccalaureate in Science (ASDBS) programs. Clinical rotation sites include area hospitals, healthcare systems, and various healthcare facilities. Clinical experiences are routinely scheduled as one day per week for the 4-year baccalaureate program and two days per week for the ASDBS program.

Required: A Master's Degree in Nursing, experience in the specialty area, and an unencumbered current NY State RN license are required. Some teaching experience is preferred. The faculty-student ratio follows NYS Education Department guidelines of a maximum of 1 to 8 faculty/student ratio.

Instructor responsibilities include:

  1. Planning the clinical experience details with the unit nursing leader to coordinate expectations before the actual start of the student experience.
  2. Interacting with clinical agency personnel to maintain effective ongoing communication, to facilitate student learning experiences and positive academic/practice relationships.
  3. Preparing student clinical assignments and supervising their experiences in the clinical site.
  4. Aligning clinical assignments and experiences with classroom content in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator as possible.
  5. Collaborating regularly with respective theory class faculty members to coordinate course content with clinical experiences.
  6. Instructing and supervising students as they provide comprehensive care to patients in the clinical setting.
  7. Conducting conferences with students to discuss clinical experiences and the application of theoretical content to patient care.
  8. Evaluating students' clinical performance according to course policy using supplied clinical evaluation instrument, in addition to ongoing formative feedback provided to the student.
  9. Maintaining attendance records.
