JOB DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Account Executive (CAE) position offers an exciting opportunity for pharmacists to leverage their pharmacy and healthcare expertise to meet the strategic goals of Health Plan clients and improve clinical and financial outcomes for their members. The CAE will utilize their deep understanding of the pharmacy and healthcare landscape, along with strong clinical, analytical, financial, and business skills, to develop and present comprehensive strategies aligned with client goals. These strategies should address key metrics such as member and client satisfaction, clinical support, and program adoption, aiming to reduce healthcare costs and achieve optimal clinical outcomes.

The CAE manages a portfolio of moderately complex clients, requiring forward-thinking as the healthcare landscape evolves. They should be comfortable with diverse data elements, capable of deriving insights, and member-centric to promote an optimal patient experience. The CAE acts as the client’s top clinical resource, staying informed about new clinical innovations beyond medications, including digital health and new healthcare delivery models. They collaborate with the Health Plan’s Pharmacy Director, Medical Director, and clinical staff to develop comprehensive management plans. The CAE is the healthcare consultant and expert responsible for managing clinical strategies, initiatives, and adopting new clinical solutions to meet the shared goals of the client and ESI.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lead (and partner with the Account Executive) the adoption of clinical solutions through consultative sales methods, including client P&T presentations, business reviews, and reporting, aligning with client goals and coordinating with internal teams.
  2. Manage formulary recommendations by leading discussions with clients, ensuring alignment with enterprise formulary practices and goals. Collaborate with the Account Executive and internal teams to oversee rebate performance and meet contractual guarantees.
  3. Develop, prepare, and present healthcare strategies for assigned clients, working with Account Executives and Managers to address health management needs.
  4. Lead clinical strategic planning and review meetings (SPARC), focusing on client retention, loyalty, and maximizing solution sales. Maintain strong client relationships to meet satisfaction and upsell targets.
  5. Share best practices with peers and clients, demonstrating understanding of current drug trends and their impact on healthcare benefits. Participate in process improvements to support healthcare benefit innovation.
  6. Engage in dialogue with clients to address their needs and build trust, providing feedback on new products or revenue opportunities.
  7. Serve as the primary clinical resource and product expert for clients.

Qualifications:

  • Current U.S. Pharmacist License
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years of licensure experience
  • Preferred 2-3 years of client-facing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Quick learner, high energy, self-starter, approachable, collaborative
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Flexible and keen to improve organizational effectiveness
  • Excellent client relationship skills for upselling and retention
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% overnight

For remote work, internet must be broadband or fiber with at least 10Mbps download and 5Mbps upload speeds.

This role may be eligible for an incentive compensation plan.
