Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a patient-focused role providing a variety of services and interacting with patients and the care team. Responsibilities include greeting patients, performing basic medical tests, handling calls, and maintaining supplies.

The position requires a High School diploma, CPR certification or obtaining it within 30 days, and about one year of experience in a medical setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• To provide a variety of specialized services that require interaction with patients, visitors and other members of the patient care team.
• To greet and escort patients from waiting area to treatment rooms and performs required medical testing (i.e. vital signs, obtain urine specimens, height/weight, etc.) as directed by either physician, RN/LPN or pre-designated protocol.
• May prepare and collect charge tickets.
• To answer and document patient phone calls regarding medical questions, test results and medication while in constant contact with attending physician, RN/LPN.
• To perform a variety of duties requiring use of independent judgment and decision making skills within well established parameters.
• To ennsure patient rooms and instruments are clean and stocked with required supplies.
• To order and maintain clinic supplies.
• To perform pre-load responsibilities based on clinic need.
