Department - Pima Animal Care Center

Job Description

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

As a Clinic Technician, you will work directly in our shelter clinic caring for dogs and cats, rotating between surgery and triage teams, in a fast-paced environment with emergency cases.

Essential Functions

• Check incoming animals for health problems and injuries
• Ensure humane treatment of all animals
• Document incoming animals accurately
• Administer medication as prescribed by a veterinarian
• Clean and sanitize cages, kennels, and treatment areas
• Assist in euthanasia following safety protocols
• Manage documentation and automated systems
• Maintain accountability of scheduled drugs
• Perform animal triage and daily health checks
• Document animal health data
• Prepare and process euthanized animals for lab analysis
• Dispose of dead animals according to procedures

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. AND six months of experience in a veterinary setting or completion of a vet technician/vet assistant certification, or one year of relevant experience with Pima County.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in animal shelters or clinics
• Veterinary customer service experience
• Vet technician certification

Selection Procedure

Candidates will be evaluated based on education and experience, with possible further assessments. Successful candidates will undergo background checks and a physical and drug screen.

Additional Information

Requires valid Arizona Class D driver license, rabies immunizations within nine months, and ability to lift up to 100 lbs. The position is full-time, with rotating shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends. Pima County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
