Phelps Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide clinical and surgical support in both outpatient clinic and operating room settings. You will prepare patients, instruments, and environments, assist during procedures, and help ensure safe, high-quality care.

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and current Basic Life Support certification are required; military experience may substitute for certification.

Responsabilités

• Prepare operating and clinic procedure rooms with sterile fields ready.
• Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, and treatments including intake and documentation.
• Prepare patients for surgery by positioning, prepping, and draping while maintaining sterility.
• Assist the surgical team intraoperatively by passing instruments and supporting monitoring.
• Perform EMR updates, scheduling, and patient communication.
• Sterilize and maintain instruments, equipment, and supplies per safety protocols.
• Support inventory management and room/equipment upkeep.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to ensure safe, patient-centered care.

General Summary

The Clinic Surgical Technologist provides clinical and surgical support to physicians and nursing staff in both outpatient clinic and operating room settings. This role is responsible for preparing patients, instruments, and surgical environments, assisting during procedures, and ensuring safe, high-quality patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare operating and clinic procedure rooms, ensuring instruments, equipment, supplies, and sterile fields are ready.
• Assist providers with patient exams, minor procedures, and treatments, including intake, documentation, and basic clinical tasks.
• Prepare patients for surgery or procedures by positioning, prepping, and draping, while maintaining infection control standards.
• Assist the surgical team intraoperatively by passing instruments, anticipating needs, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting patient monitoring.
• Perform clinical and administrative functions such as EMR updates, scheduling, and patient communication.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
• Support inventory management, supply ordering, and general room/equipment upkeep.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to ensure efficient, safe, and patient-centered care across both clinic and OR settings.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program required.

Work Experience

• Experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse desired but not required.
• Extensive military surgical experience will be considered in lieu of certification.

Certification/License

• Current Surgical Technologist Certification required unless extensive military surgical experience as noted in minimum work experience.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

• Variety of standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
• Requires occasional lifting/carrying/moving of equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
• Must stand for long periods and remain alert during operations.

Working Conditions

• Will spend time in both a physician office environment as well as an operating room setting.
• Frequent contact with diverse individuals.
• Maximum exposure to infection, bodily fluids, and sharp instruments.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases and unpleasant sights, odors, and materials.
