Job summary

Cone Health Sleep Medicine seeks a Clinic Sleep Technologist Registered to support the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Under supervision, you will perform sleep monitoring and analysis following AASM guidelines.

Responsibilities include equipment setup, patient assessments, data monitoring, and collaboration with sleep physicians to interpret results and guide therapy titration. Pediatric testing with capnography may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up sleep study equipment for patients.
• Monitor sleep study data including EEG, heart rate, respiration, and oxygen levels.
• Educate patients on sleep studies, sleep hygiene, and treatment adherence.
• Support titration of therapies such as CPAP, BiPAP, ASV, and Inspire Fine Tuning.
• Administer testing on pediatric patients, with and without capnography.

Job description

The Clinic Sleep Technologist Registered supports the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in patients. Working under close supervision, this role performs sleep monitoring and analysis to improve patients' sleep quality and well-being and performs procedures and testing in adherence to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines.

Essential Job Function

• Helps prepare and set up sleep study equipment and monitoring devices for patients undergoing sleep studies.
• Supports comprehensive patient assessments, including interviewing patients to gather medical history and sleep-related information.
• Monitors patients' physiological data during sleep studies, such as brain waves, heart rate, respiratory patterns, and oxygen levels.
• Assists in educating patients about the sleep study procedure, sleep hygiene, and the importance of following treatment recommendations.
• Collaborates with sleep medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals to interpret sleep study results and provide treatment recommendations.
• Participates in the implementation and titrations of the several therapies; Positive Airway Pressure (PAP), such as Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Bilevel, Adaptive Servo Ventilation (ASV), and Inspire Fine Tuning.
• Administers testing on pediatric patients, with and without capnography.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Completed clinical rotation in polysomnography.

Licensure/Certification/Listing

• Required: Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as a RPSGT; Registered by the North Carolina Medical Board as a BRPT; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
