Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Christiansburg, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse Team Lead to support high‑quality patient care and team performance within our NRV service area. The role blends direct clinical duties with leadership and operational oversight to drive positive outcomes.

The RN Team Lead leads care delivery, mentors staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and collaborates with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• 1 year in clinical discipline with leadership experience.
• Registered Nurse licensed in Virginia.
• De-escalation training within four months for Psychiatry/Behavioral Health.
• Computer skills for electronic medical record (EPIC).
• Demonstrates leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Leads delivery of patient care with clinical excellence and adherence to standards.
• Provides direction, supervision, and delegation to staff.
• Fosters a positive team culture with accountability and growth.
• Recognizes staff accomplishments and supports ongoing development.
• Acts as communication bridge between staff and management for feedback and issue resolution.
• Collaborates with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans.
• Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment regarding policies and reimbursement.
• Attends management meetings and represents the unit in broader initiatives.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CLIA, OSHA).
• Supports fiscal management through staffing and budgeting contributions.
• Leads quality improvement initiatives and patient-satisfaction measures.
• Provides age-appropriate care across the lifespan and handles urgent staffing needs as needed.
