Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to join our oncology care team in Austin, Texas. This role supports continuity of care, coordinates patient visits and diagnostic procedures, and acts as a resource across the interdisciplinary team while providing patient and family education.

Position is full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm with no weekends or major holidays; entry level to senior based on candidate experience.

Qualifications

  • RN license and current state registration.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience in oncology preferred or specialized unit experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and promote continuity of care following established standards.
  • Assess health status and patient history; provide teaching and support.
  • Coordinate consultations, pre-testing, procedures, referrals and follow-ups for patients.
  • Triage calls and document information; facilitate communication within the care team.
  • Support LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants as a resource.

Overview

Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:30am‑5pm position with no weekends, on‑call, or major holidays. Role can be Level 1, Level 2, or Senior based on candidate experience.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
    • Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
    • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
    • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
    • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
    • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
    • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart.
    • As necessary, facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
    • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Inter‑professional collaboration.
    • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
Qualifications
  • Level 1
    • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
    • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • 0‑3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
  • Level 2
    • 3‑5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology.
  • Level Sr
    • Five years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lb. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
