Waverly Health Center is seeking a skilled healthcare scheduler to support patient referrals, testing and procedures. You will coordinate appointments, communicate with patients and families, and ensure timely information flows to providers and insurers.

You will also teach patients, collaborate with nursing staff, and maintain accurate electronic records with strict confidentiality. Prior clinic experience and English fluency are required.

Formación

• 3–5 years of healthcare experience preferred.
• Previous clinic setting experience preferred.
• Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including online training modules, timesheet and performance appraisal systems.
• Must read, speak, and write fluent English.

Responsabilidades

• Schedule referral appointments for patients to specialists/agencies and testing/procedures; fax required information.
• Communicate appointment details clearly to patients in an understandable manner.
• Contact insurance companies to obtain prior authorization before procedures when required.
• Coordinate with patients, families, providers, outside agencies, and hospital staff about hospitalizations or clinic visits.
• Provide teaching to patients and families and adapt to language and style understood by all parties.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to maintain continuity of care for patients.
• Work with nursing staff to ensure continuity of care across services.
• Maintain patients’ electronic records and document timely while protecting confidentiality.

FTE/Scheduled Weekly Hours: 1.00 / 40 / 1st Shift (United States of America)Monday - Friday, 40hrs/week (1.0 FTE), remote option

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Provides indirect patient care services, under the direction of a provider, that meet the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care. Communicates with providers and team members about status of patient appointments/testing/procedures, including any follow up needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Schedules referral appointments for patients to specialists/agencies as directed, faxing appropriate information, which will provide continuity of care for the patient. Schedules testing/procedure appointments for patients as directed, faxing appropriate orders and documents. Utilizes appropriate referral procedure to agencies which will provide continuity of patient care, and acts as a resource to staff and families.
• 2. Communicates appointment information and instructions to patients in a timely manner and in a way patients are able to understand. Uses tact, patience, and understanding when dealing with patients. Treats them with respect and dignity at all times.
• 3. Contacts insurance companies per phone or online website submission to obtain prior authorization before procedures with this requirement.
• 4. Effectively communicates with patients, families, providers, outside agencies, and hospital personnel regarding patient's hospitalization or clinic visit.
• 5. Provides teaching for patients and family members. Adapts teaching to a language and style understood by all parties. Reinforces teaching as needed.
• 6. Works with other members of the nursing services staff to maintain the continuity of care of the clinical patient.
• 7. Collaborates with other nursing medical staff for continuity of care.
• 8. Maintains patients' electronic records, accurately documenting in a timely manner and ensuring confidentiality at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Education, Experience, and Training
• 3-5 years of healthcare experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a clinic setting preferred.
• Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
• Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
• 2. Physical Requirements
• Sitting - Approximately 70% of shift.
• Standing- Approximately 10% of shift.
• Walking - Approximately 10% of shift.
• Lifting - Approximately 35 pounds. Must use, and require staff to use, when in hospital and pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices.
• Twisting - Infrequent.
• Bending - Moderate.
• Squat/Kneel - Approximately 10% of shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• 1. May come in contact with hazardous chemicals or treatment modalities.
• 2. The possibility exists of exposure to communicable disease due to working in a healthcare environment.
• 3. Involvement in patient care may result in unavoidable work-related illnesses.
