Job description

The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in patient care. Customers include diverse age groups requiring individualized care, from infants to geriatrics. The role focuses on collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as outlined in the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice, with specific competencies defined by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. The Medical Assistant collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to achieve departmental and organizational goals. Effective communication with the healthcare team regarding patient progress, concerns, and questions is essential.

Unit / Department Specific :

Clinic hours and shifts vary by location; some positions may require weekend rotation. Blaine & Minnetonka Urgency Center FTE openings include 4 – 12-hour shifts per pay period, with every third weekend work required.

Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR relevant on-the-job experience with participation in a recognized registration program (e.g., American Medical Technologists) and passing the credentialing exam.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Experience

  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • Passed x-ray operator’s examination or willingness to obtain it based on clinic needs.
  • Occupational Medicine experience is preferred for applicable positions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications.
  • Travel using personal vehicle to various local worksites may be required for Occupational Medicine roles.

Licensure / Certification

  • Current BLS Certification (BH Standard).
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant on-the-job training with credentialing and exam passing.
