Job summary

Carson Tahoe Health in Carson City, NV is seeking a Nursing Support professional to assist providers with patient care and perform clerical and frontline clinical tasks. You will escort patients, take vital signs, document in EMR, prepare medications as directed, and support front office duties to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Requires BLS certification and preferably 1 year MA experience within a hospital or clinic setting.

Qualifications

• BLS for healthcare providers is required.
• One year Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
• Current Nevada Office Laboratory Assistance Licensure or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care procedures under supervision of Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner (e.g. dressing changes, minor procedures, EKGs).
• Escort patient to exam room, obtain medical history, review/update medication list, measure vital signs and document in EMR.
• Prepare and administer medications (topical, oral, injections) as directed by clinician.
• Authorize prescription refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Performs routine lab tests (urinalysis, rapid strep, A1C, etc) and logs in EMR.
• Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home treatments and diets as directed.
• Ensure all related reports, labs, and information are in medical records prior to appointment.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilize instruments; dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Triage and process messages, provide feedback/answers to patients, providers, staff, and pharmacies.
• Maintain logs and required checks (fridge temperatures, expired meds, etc).
• Performs front office/receptionist duties as needed; performs other duties as assigned.

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers

Preferred

UNIT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Minden PC, Carson PC, Dayton PC and Urology:

• Current State of Nevada Office Laboratory Assistance Licensure or obtain within 6 months of hire
