Description:
What you will Do:
  • Utilize written MercyOne-North Iowa policies/procedures and universal precautions to properly collect, handle, and store blood and other body fluids from patients as indicated under “Age of Patients Served”.
  • Perform all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy, following all CLIA regulations.
  • Report in-house final results to medical staff, including immediate notification of any critical values.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment with accurate records of service.
  • Obtain assistance from Regional Laboratory Technical Consultant or Regional Laboratory Manager, if needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Record and evaluate all required quality control results. Perform proficiency testing.
  • Prepare and process specimens for testing, including accurate documentation when ordering for reference lab testing.
  • Maintain records and logs as required by regulatory agencies, including controls, proficiency testing, work logs, temperature recordings, maintenance records, and updates in policy/procedure manuals.

Hours/Schedule:

Full Time - 36 hours weekly

Day Shift


Education:

High School Diploma and graduate of a medical assistant program with certification, or non-licensed graduate radiology tech, or high school graduate with phlebotomy experience.

Experience:

Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
