Description:

What you will Do:

• Utilizes written MercyOne-North Iowa policies/procedures and universal precautions to properly collect, handle, and store blood and other body fluids from patients as indicated under “Age of Patients Served”.
• Performs all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy, following all CLIA regulations.
• Reports in-house final results to medical staff, including immediate notification of any critical values.
• Maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, keeping accurate records of service.
• Obtains assistance from Regional Laboratory Technical Consultant or Regional Laboratory Manager, if needed.
• Performs records and evaluates all required quality control results. Performs proficiency testing.
• Prepares and processes specimens for testing, including accurate documentation when ordering for reference lab testing.
• Maintains records and logs as required by regulatory agencies, including controls, proficiency testing, work logs, temperature recordings, maintenance records, and updates in policy/procedure manuals.

Hours/Schedule:

Full Time - 36 hours weekly

Day Shift

Education:
High School Diploma and graduation from a medical assistant program with certification, or a non-licensed graduate radiology tech, or a high school graduate with phlebotomy experience.
Experience:
Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
