Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at the Dallas Medical City location. With over 175 sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma, our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality cancer care through advanced technology and research, helping patients achieve “More breakthroughs. What does the Medical Assistant do?

Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, promotes efficient patient flow, and performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and maintaining schedules. Adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas.
  • Record patient data prior to visits, including vital signs, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Answer patient calls and assist with referrals.
  • Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception tasks as requested.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Medical or Nursing Assistant.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential.
Physical Demands

This role requires full body motion, manual dexterity, and the ability to handle and lift patients. Standing and walking for extended periods are necessary, with occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing are required.

Work Environment

The environment involves exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions typical of an oncology/hematology clinic. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
