Registered Nurse, Medical Oncology

$5,000 Sign-on Bonus for Experienced RNs

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Thompson Oncology Group (TOG) is a leader in medical oncology services and provides patients access to all proven, drug-based treatments and the latest clinical trial medicines. Our team of board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologists and certified advanced practice providers deliver on-site care and treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormone therapy, at affiliated infusion centers throughout our region.

Position Summary: Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  1. Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
  2. Assesses needs of patient and family.
  3. Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family.
  4. Recommends interventions.
  5. Evaluates plan of care.
  6. Clinical expertise and knowledge is such that individual can resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without supervision.
  7. Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  8. Leads process improvement initiatives in their own unit or participates in facility team.
  9. Precepts new employees/students or attends formal preceptor workshop and is willing to precept. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.
  10. Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
  11. Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
  12. Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of three (3) years professional experience.

Licensure Requirement: Valid Tennessee RN license. Yearly infection control, fire, safety and CPR inservices are required.

Continuing Education: Twenty (20) hours required annually (10 to enhance clinical expertise); or Fifteen (15) hours required annually, plus ACLS certification; or Ten (10) hours required annually, plus specialty certification; or Ten (10) hours required annually, plus ACLS instructor.
