Overview

Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical Unit

Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift

Fort Loudoun Medical Center Overview:

Fort Loudoun Medical Center is equipped with a team of more than 200 doctors in more than 29 specialty areas. Our 87,000-square-foot hospital features advanced technology, including state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Diagnostic X-Rays and Women’s Imaging Services, as well as Nuclear Medicine technology unique to our surrounding counties. The physicians, staff and volunteers of Fort Loudoun Medical Center are dedicated to providing excellent care to every patient, every time.

The Medical Surgical Unit is a 46-bed telemetry equipped unit. The department services step down critical care, general medical, and surgical patients. Our staffing mix includes RNs, LPNs, CNAs and HUCs. Our multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, therapists, nutritionists, case managers and direct care staff meet daily to discuss patient conditions and progress toward their discharge plan. We serve a rapidly growing community with a wide age range. Our staff involves family in the care of the patient through participation and education of the patient’s medical condition. Position Summary:

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  1. Correlates patient history and support systems across continuum of care.
  2. Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
  3. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams making recommendations to facilitate patient care.
  4. Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis and patient needs. Evaluates outcomes.
  5. Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
  6. Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
  7. Demonstrates active participation in unit or facility activities.
  8. Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  9. Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
  10. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience

New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation (move to level II after one (1) year experience).

Licensure Requirement

Must have and maintain Tennessee State nursing license. CPR required.
