Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required or HEW designation as technologist in lieu of a degree.
  • 1-3 years experience working in a laboratory is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares samples for testing and performs quality assurance work.
  • Collects and analyzes bodily fluids for abnormalities.
  • Operates laboratory equipment and analyzes test results.

Job description

Job Title: Clin Lab Technologist - PRN (7462-8952)

Description:

Rutherford Regional Health System is a 143-bed acute care facility that offers a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care. We are dedicated to providing patients with a full range of services to meet their healthcare needs in a caring, professional environment through the teamwork of our medical staff and employees.

Rutherford Regional Health System’s partnership with Duke LifePoint Healthcare is transforming healthcare in Rutherford County by combining Duke’s expertise in clinical excellence with LifePoint's extensive resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing.
  • Recognizes and corrects errors in tests and procedures, reporting promptly to the immediate supervisor.
  • Performs Quality Assurance work to ensure equipment accuracy, including QC and maintenance documentation.
  • Participates in continuing education activities in a timely manner.
  • Performs specialized techniques/projects under the supervision of the Lab Manager.
  • Assists laboratory functions to meet regulatory compliance.
  • Collects and analyzes bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
  • Operates laboratory equipment effectively.
  • Analyzes test results for accuracy and reports results per organizational standards.
  • Performs automated and manual tests based on established policies and procedures.
  • Runs tests and analyzes results for timely reporting.
  • Assists in the training of MLT students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required or HEW designation as technologist in lieu of a degree.
  • Completion of Medical Technology Program preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

  • ASCP preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience working in a laboratory is strongly preferred.
