Job summary

Rippling, Inc. in Pasadena seeks a part-time event belay staff member to safely belay and supervise participants, assist with event setup and cleanup, and foster a welcoming, safety-focused atmosphere for climbers.

The role requires strong communication with the public and children, knowledge of belay rules, and the ability to guide participants through gear and techniques. Shifts are weekend-focused, starting at $18.57 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the public and children.
• Strong communication and public speaking skills.
• Knows how to belay, has a Touchstone Climbing Belay Agreement Card or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Communicate proactively with gym staff to be briefed on events
• Prep event space and rental equipment
• Organize event participants after they are checked in at the desk
• Ensure all chaperone and staffing minimums are met
• Assist participants with proper gear setup
• Educate participants about Touchstone’s Gym Safety Rules
• Belay participants or facilitate a bouldering session, offering encouragement and technique tips, keeping them engaged throughout the event
• Assist organizers with various event-related tasks
• Event setup and cleanup
