Davey Tree Expert Company seeks a Climbing Arborist Trainee for the Near North Shore (Wheeling), IL. This on-site role trains you to climb, prune, and remove trees while learning to install safety systems and work with a tree crew.

The position emphasizes outdoor work, safety training, and opportunities for advancement within a large, employee-owned company. Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour with benefits.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and progressively learn new skills.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew.
• Perform all aspects of pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
