Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist Trainee in Wheeling, IL. The outdoor-focused role offers hands-on learning on a tree crew, with progression toward pruning, removal, and safety tasks in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights (preferred).
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew.
• Progressively learn pruning and removal services and safety practices.
• Identify trees and follow industry pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in the removal of hazardous trees and maintain all tools and equipment.
• Growth and skill development as you gain experience.
