Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Mokena, IL is seeking a climbing arborist trainee to trim and remove trees, pruning and removal services, and learn safety practices on-site. You will work with a tree crew, gaining hands-on experience with equipment while building skills for professional growth.

Starting pay ranges from $20 to $23 per hour, with benefits and opportunities for advancement. Training in safety, first aid, and licensing is provided as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and be paid while doing so.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while learning new skills.
• Perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Identify trees and follow industry pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood in canopies.
• Assist in installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
