Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring a climbing arborist trainee for on-site work in Crystal Lake, IL. You’ll learn tree pruning and removal, climb trees, and work with a crew to deliver safe, high-quality tree care services.

Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour with benefits, and opportunities for advancement within a large, employee-owned network. Training in safety, equipment use, and industry standards is provided.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and interest in tree care.
• Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Willing to complete Davey Tree orientation and safety training on hire.
• Pesticide licenses/certifications preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work on a tree crew.
• Assist in pruning, removal, and related services.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees and use of tools safely.
• Maintain, prepare and operate chainsaws, chippers, lifts, and more.
• Grow skills and responsibilities as you progress.
