Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist Crew Leader in Auburn Hills, MI. The role focuses on directing a crew and equipment to deliver arboricultural care on commercial and residential properties, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficient jobsite execution.

You will mentor crew members, perform technical pruning and installation work, and ensure proper use of climbing systems and equipment.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
• Complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses and related certificates.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Direct a crew and equipment to perform arboricultural care for clients.
• Lead safety-focused jobsite planning and execution (H.O.P.E. process).
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood from tree canopies.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees as needed.
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts) with care.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Safely and productively lead a crew in providing arboricultural care for our clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Jobsite Hazards, Obstacles, Plan, Equipment (H.O.P.E) process
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
