Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Nashville, TN is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist Crew Leader to join our outdoor-minded landscape team. You’ll supervise climbing operations, mentor crew members, and deliver professional arboricultural care to clients using DDRT/MRS or SRT/SRS methods.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a crew and performing arboricultural tasks.
• Ability to mentor crew members and follow safety protocols.
• Certifications in arboriculture or tree-care safety preferred.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and provide arboricultural care using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS.
• Prune, remove deadwood, install cables/bracing, and protect against hazards.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Mentor crew members and support ground crew as part of the team.

What You’ll Do

• How high you grow depends on you!
• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Safely and productively provide arboricultural care for our clients, including but not limited to:
  • Jobsite Hazards, Obstacles, Plan, Equipment (H.O.P.E) process
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
  • Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew
• In addition, Crew Leaders will also:
  • Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program

What We’re Looking For

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Experience with the job duites listed above
• Required: Experience leading a crew
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist ®, ISA Certified Tree Worker ®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional ®
