Job description

Position Overview

The Climbing Arborist Crew Lead directs crew members and equipment, and plans and executes assigned work or tasks, including climbing trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems, safely leading a crew in arboricultural care, and mentoring team members. Responsibilities include managing jobsite hazards, pruning, thinning, removing deadwood, installing cables, bracing, lightning protection, and removing hazardous trees. Proper maintenance and operation of tools and equipment are also required.

Job Duties

• Climb Trees using various systems.
• Lead a crew in providing arboricultural services.
• Manage jobsite hazards, obstacles, planning, and equipment (H.O.P.E) process.
• Perform pruning, thinning, and removal of deadwood.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, etc.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Tree Worker, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional.
