Job description

Position Overview

The Climbing Arborist Crew Lead directs crew members and equipment, planning and executing assigned work or tasks. The role involves climbing trees using various systems, leading a team in providing arboricultural care, and maintaining safety standards.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

  • Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
  • Safely and effectively lead a crew in arboricultural tasks for clients.
  • Manage jobsite hazards, obstacles, planning, and equipment (H.O.P.E) process.
  • Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
  • Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
  • Remove hazardous trees.
  • Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
  • Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, etc.
Qualifications

What We’re Looking for:

  • Love of the outdoors.
  • Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
  • Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
  • Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates.
  • Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Tree Worker, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional.
