Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist to join our outdoor team in Wheeling, IL. You will climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems, prune, remove, and protect trees, and work closely with a crew to deliver safe, high-quality tree care.

This permanent, full-time position offers paid time off, 401(k) with company match, employee-owned benefits, and opportunities for advancement. Starting pay is $30 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work experience preferred in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
• Must complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Must complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Pesticide licenses and certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader as an active team member.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees and manage job site safety.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
