Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist Trainee to join a Downers Grove, IL crew. You’ll learn climbing, pruning and removal, and health care for trees in an outdoor setting while working with a skilled team.

Starting pay is $20-$23 per hour with paid time off, advancement opportunities, and safety training provided by industry experts. The office is outdoors, offering a dynamic, hands-on learning environment.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and join a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
