Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join a field-based team in Gorham, ME. Your office is outdoors, with varying daily views as you climb trees and perform pruning and removal work to keep landscapes healthy and safe.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license is required.
• Previous tree climbing experience is required.
• Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Pesticide licenses and related certificates are preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems and prune or remove as needed.
• Work as an active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform tree pruning, thinning and removal safely for clients.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.

$28 to $38 per hour+ $2,500 Sign On Bonus (Basedon experience & certifications)

Position Overview

Trimand removetrees, remove unwanted,diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areasby performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Required: Valid Driver's license
