Position Title: Climate Support Assistant (Dean of Students)

Position Summary:
The Climate Support Assistant (Dean of Students) will play a vital role in fostering a positive and inclusive school climate by providing extended classroom support and follow-up services for students who have received interventions through MTSS (Multi-Tier System of Support), Specialized Services, or third-party behavioral agencies. This position will monitor and implement evidence-based behavior intervention strategies under the guidance of the School Culture & Climate Coordinator and/or Climate Specialist. The Climate Support Assistant will assist in data collection and analysis, communicate with the Climate Specialist to identify additional needs, and ensure the fidelity of behavior interventions.

This role is dedicated to creating equitable opportunities for students facing behavioral, social, emotional, and academic challenges. The Climate Support Assistant will collaborate with existing school supports and provide assistance across the building as needed to maintain a cohesive and supportive environment.

General Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain positive relationships with scholars, staff, and families.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement and track positive behavior support plans using MTSS, Live School, and other research-based programs.
  • Scholar Engagement: Provide support to scholars during classroom lessons, socialization periods, admissions, dismissal, and other activities.
  • Uniform Compliance: Conduct daily uniform checks and communicate uniform concerns to parents/families.
  • Behavioral Intervention: Redirect and de-escalate acting-out behaviors as needed.
  • School Norms: Implement and enforce norms and consequences consistent with school/academy programming.
  • School Climate: Support the school's aesthetics and imagery to reinforce scholar excellence and school norms aligned with PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Implement SEL practices consistent with the school's SEL curriculum.
  • Small Group Facilitation: Lead small groups focused on the Global Leadership Academy Core Jewels and academic enrichment.
  • Scholar Supervision: Actively monitor scholars in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, schoolyards, gymnasiums, and during indoor/outdoor activities.
  • Restorative Practices: Facilitate restorative circles to address scholar behavior, promote positive peer interactions, and resolve conflicts.
  • Testing Support: Assist with standardized state testing administration as required.
  • Behavioral Plans: Implement support plans for Tier II and Tier III scholars.
  • Incident Documentation: Document and report scholar behavior incidents in alignment with Global Leadership Academy policies and procedures.
  • Modeling Expectations: Exemplify all Global Leadership Academy expectations in conduct and professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Literacy, Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in a school-based setting is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using computers and relevant software.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional tone and temperament in all interactions.
  • Organization: Task-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

COMPENSATION

Initial salary offers for this position range from $60,000 - $70,000. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
