Job summary

CarbonPlan is a nonprofit using science and data to accelerate climate action. The Research Associate role supports research tasks on climate impacts and helps scope projects to inform policy and decision-making.

You will work remotely with a collaborative team led by Grayson Badgley, reporting to a Research Scientist. Responsibilities include assisting in climate-impact research, contributing to articles and tools, and engaging with media and decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Degree or training in Earth sciences, environmental science, data science, statistics, economics, or related climate field.
• Strong non-academic written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with interdisciplinary and/or policy-relevant research.
• Experience with data analysis and attention to detail when working with data.
• Experience with scientific programming (e.g., Python) or other coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in research on climate impacts across focus areas such as climate risk modeling and adaptation.
• Contribute to CarbonPlan research articles, tools, blog posts, and journals.
• Support engagement with media, research, and decision-making communities.
• Collaborate with team members and external partners.
