Job summary

The Climate Policy Analyst 2 role supports New York's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act through development and implementation of greenhouse gas reporting programs, regulatory analysis, and policy guidance.

Reporting to Section Leads in the Department of Environmental Conservation, the analyst serves as a program lead for the NYS e-GGRT platform, coordinates with bureau staff and external partners, and may provide supervision to entry-level professionals.

Qualifications

• Seven years of experience in environmental policy or climate policy preparation/implementation.
• Formal education aligned with policy roles (associates/bachelors/masters/doctorate) relevant to the role.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management.

Responsibilities

• Lead NYS e-GGRT platform initiatives and greenhouse gas reporting programs.
• Coordinate with bureau staff and external partners to implement policy guidance.
• Provide supervision to entry-level professionals when assigned.

Job description

This is a full-time position in Albany with potential telecommuting (up to 50%).

Key qualifications:

• Seven years of experience in environmental policy, climate policy preparation/implementation, or environmental analysis
• Associate degree (substitutes 2 years), bachelor's degree (4 years), master's degree (5 years), or doctorate (6 years) of relevant experience
• Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and public speaking ability
• Ability to supervise subordinate employees and work collaboratively in team settings
