Job summary

The Climate Metrics Specialist at The Nature Conservancy provides technical leadership for climate metrics and indicators aligned with 2030 goals. You will support metric accounting, refine metrics across projects, and collaborate with the Global Climate team and field offices to ensure robust monitoring and reporting.

You will develop and apply carbon accounting and other climate metrics, support adaptive management, and contribute to MEL capabilities, including reproducible analyses and data

Qualifications

• Master's degree in science-related field and 2 years of experience.
• Experience collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
• Experience synthesizing, interpreting, and communicating scientific information to general audiences.
• Experience preparing technical reports, or scientific publications, and creating engaging visualizations.
• Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with conservation or climate programs.
• Experience developing metrics, monitoring, evaluation, outcome reporting, or related expertise.
• Track record of reproducible analysis; coding in R or Python would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary expert for climate metrics and tracking systems.
• Develop and deploy climate mitigation/adaptation metrics and proxy metrics.
• Design adaptive management plans and monitoring protocols.
• Conduct quantitative analyses to inform baselines and impact.
• Refine metrics and support high-quality program monitoring and reporting.
• Develop MEL systems to inform long-term goals and reporting.
• Deliver tools and training to staff and partners.
