Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Climate Metrics Specialist to provide technical leadership on climate indicators across global programs. The role partners with the Global Climate team, the Chief Conservation Office, and field teams to refine metrics, improve reporting, and support monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans.

Location is flexible within countries with established offices, with a preference for the Washington, DC Metro area.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in science-related field with 2+ years of experience or equivalent.
• Experience collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
• Experience synthesizing, interpreting, and communicating scientific information to diverse audiences.
• Experience preparing technical reports and creating engaging visualizations.
• Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with conservation or climate programs.
• Experience developing metrics, monitoring, evaluation, or related expertise.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary expert for the Global Climate team on impact metrics and tracking systems.
• Develop and deploy climate mitigation/adaptation metrics and proxy methods.
• Design adaptive management and MEL plans with data-driven indicators.
• Conduct quantitative analyses to inform baselines and measure impact.
• Support metric refinement and high-quality monitoring approaches.
• Develop MEL systems to inform future goals and reporting.
• Deliver tools and training to staff and partners.
• Manage data and develop datasets and tools; may include fieldwork.
• May supervise staff, interns, or volunteers on a project basis.
• May manage a grant, contract, or RFP.
