Job summary

Third Way is seeking a Director of Communications for the Climate and Energy Program (CEP) to lead the program's messaging across earned, social, and paid media. The role shapes CEP's policy narrative in the United States, oversees public opinion research, and manages publications and research outputs.

The incumbent will lead a team, collaborate with senior leaders, and drive strategic partnerships with media and advocacy networks to advance a broad clean energy agenda.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of progressively responsible communications, public affairs, media, or advocacy experience, including strategy development and staff management.
• Strong relationships with national and trade press and a passion for a technology-inclusive clean energy transition.
• Excellent written and verbal ability, with editing and synthesis of complex ideas.
• Creative approach to marketing and standing out in a crowded media environment.
• Ability to navigate complex political and media environments using public opinion research, social media, and earned media.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement CEP's communication strategy and narrative for clean energy policy in the United States.
• Oversee earned, social, and paid media, lead public opinion research, and manage publications and research.
• Coach and develop the CEP communications team and ensure consistent messaging across work.
• Manage strategic partnerships and relationships with media, NGOs, labor unions, and policymakers.
• Develop and manage CEP communications budget including paid media, polling, vendors.
