Qualifications

• 5+ years of reporting experience spanning business/economics journalism with climate reporting.
• Fluency in economics and markets; comfortable with Fed statements and climate studies.
• Track record of enterprise reporting and investigative work.
• Clear and vivid writing; ability to tell stories.
• Ability to handle daily news and long features.
• Experience with public records requests or regulatory filings.
• Comfort with data: interrogate datasets and derive stories.
• Commitment to journalistic independence and mission.

Responsibilities

• Report ahead of the curve and break news on climate economics.
• Write features using narratives and data to make risk tangible.
• Explain how climate risk moves through insurance, credit and real estate.
• Translate science into economic consequences for readers and policymakers.
• Build a network of sources across insurance, agriculture, utilities, banking, and academia.
• Collaborate with desks across Business, Real Estate, National, Weather.
• Think visually; produce video and data visualization when needed.
• Explain complex topics clearly for readers with varying knowledge.
• Tell the big picture of climate impacts in the US and globally.
