Job summary

Environmental Investigation Agency in Washington, DC seeks a Climate Data Analyst to analyze environmental datasets and translate findings into campaign products. You will conduct technical research, develop reproducible analyses, and contribute to public-facing investigations and advocacy.

The role requires strong Excel skills and programming experience (Python, R, or SQL), with a focus on transparent, rigorous analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in data science, statistics, environmental science, computer science, economics, mathematics, engineering, GIS, or related discipline.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional, internship, academic and research experience.
• Strong quantitative and data analysis skills with complex datasets.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel including lookups, pivots, data cleaning and conditional calculations.
• Working knowledge of Python, R, or SQL for data analysis, automation, or visualization.

Responsibilities

• Analyze environmental, emissions, industry, trade, and other datasets to identify trends and opportunities for climate action.
• Collect, clean, organize, validate, document, and maintain datasets from government, industry, and open sources.
• Explore defined analytical questions and develop approaches to investigate them.
• Conduct policy and technical research on fluorinated gases and related climate issues.
• Use Excel for quantitative analysis and develop reproducible findings; program in Python/R/SQL for advanced tasks.
• Translate findings into reports, briefings, fact sheets, presentations, and web content.
• Support development of maps, data visualizations, and public-facing tools.
