About this Role
The Climate Analyst role represents a unique opportunity to bridge customer needs with product development, taking ownership of carbon accounting practices and methodologies at an enterprise scale. In this position, you will serve as a critical link between Pulsora’s enterprise customers and its product team, working directly with sustainability leaders as they build and refine their ESG programs within the Pulsora platform. You will engage in hands‑on methodology work, spending substantial time analyzing activity data, evaluating emission factors, reviewing standard regulatory text, and validating calculation logic. Your work will ensure that the numbers and recommendations produced by the platform can withstand rigorous scrutiny from auditors, chief financial officers, and regulatory bodies. This is a substantive role that requires deep expertise in greenhouse gas accounting standards and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into concrete product capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer engagements and own relationships with sustainability leads at enterprise customers across greenhouse gas inventory build, assurance processes, decarbonization planning, and both voluntary and regulatory reporting requirements
- Conduct methodology work behind recommendations and calculations to ensure platform outputs survive auditor, CFO, and regulator scrutiny
- Shape product capabilities for greenhouse gas accounting across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions, including decarbonization target‑setting and tracking aligned with frameworks like SBTi and CDP
- Ensure the platform produces calculations and disclosures that meet third‑party assurance standards and requirements
- Own the emission factor library end‑to‑end, including sourcing, versioning, provenance tracking, and retirement of superseded editions from sources such as DEFRA/DESNZ, EPA GHG Emission Factors Hub, IEA grid factors, and sector‑specific reference databases
- Manage Global Warming Potential (GWP) sets across IPCC Assessment Reports (AR4, AR5, and AR6) and oversee transition logic between different versions
- Serve as a subject matter expert on carbon accounting and sustainability regulations and standards, providing guidance and support to clients during onboarding, training, and ongoing platform usage
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to gather requirements and understand the needs of various users related to carbon accounting, sustainability compliance, and reporting
- Work closely with engineering, design, and cross‑functional teams to prioritize client requests and translate them into product development initiatives
- Use AI‑assisted coding tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot) to independently build working prototypes, internal tools, and AI applications that accelerate discovery and validate ideas with customers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, business, or related field; advanced master’s degree or MBA preferred
- Proven track record of 5 or more years in climate consulting or sustainability analyst roles with significant experience in carbon accounting, sustainability consulting, sustainability framework advice, regulatory counseling, or related domains
- Deep understanding of the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 family of standards, and sustainability regulations, frameworks, and standards including CSRD, CDP, SBTi, PCAF, GRI, SASB, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, and EDCI
- Hands‑on experience building or auditing a full Scope 1–3 inventory under the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard
- Fluency in emission factor sourcing and application, including understanding of where factors originate, how different editions vary, what breaks when a source revises factors, and how GWP set changes propagate through restated inventories
- Familiarity with sustainability assurance and audit practices including ISAE 3000/3410 and AA1000AS standards, and understanding of limited versus reasonable assurance requirements
- Knowledge of the data lineage, controls, and documentation customers need to pass third‑party audits
- Understanding of decarbonization strategy, science‑based target setting (SBTi), CDP disclosures, marginal abatement cost curves, scenario analysis, and how companies translate net‑zero commitments into operational reduction plans
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted “vibe coding” tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and Replit for building prototypes and working applications (deep AI/ML engineering background not required)
- Comfort operating in ambiguity at the intersection of regulated domains and fast‑moving AI, with ability to make thoughtful trade‑offs between accuracy, latency, cost, and compliance risk
- Self‑starter who takes ownership of opportunities and works well independently, manages multiple simultaneous projects, and handles ambiguity and last‑minute changes effectively
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product plans
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders
- Experience working in an agile development environment and familiarity with product management tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Experience working with global teams and willingness to work outside regular business hours with Pulsora’s offshore team in India
- Industry and market knowledge of ESG and sustainability preferred
