Job summary

Pulsora, Inc. is seeking a hands-on leader to own carbon accounting within the Enterprise Sustainability Platform in Chicago. You will partner with sustainability leaders at enterprise clients to build inventories, set targets, and disclose data to meet regulatory expectations.

You will own emission factor libraries, translate regulatory changes into product requirements, and prototype solutions with AI-assisted tools to accelerate client value while ensuring audit-ready outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years in climate consulting or sustainability roles with carbon accounting experience.
• Deep knowledge of GHG Protocol and CSRD, CDP, SBTi, and related standards.
• Experience building/auditing full Scope 1–3 inventory under the GHG Protocol.
• Experience with emission factor sourcing and GWP sets.
• Familiarity with ISAE 3000/3410 and AA1000AS audits.
• Ability to translate regulatory changes into product requirements.
• Comfort shipping AI-assisted prototypes with tools like Claude Code, Copilot.

About the Role

You sit between our customers and our product, and you own the carbon accounting. You'll work directly with sustainability leaders at enterprise customers as they build their programs in Pulsora - leading the methodology work behind inventory build, target setting, and disclosure. You'll own our emission factor library and calculation methodology, and you'll translate regulatory change into concrete product requirements. This is a hands‑on methodology role. You will spend real time in activity data, emission factors, standard text, and calculation logic.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer engagements: Own the relationship with sustainability leads at enterprise customers across GHG inventory build, assurance, decarbonization planning, and voluntary and regulatory reporting. You do the methodology work behind the recommendation, the calculation behind the numbers, and you make sure what the platform produces survives the question "how was this number arrived?" from an auditor, a CFO, or a regulator.
• GHG Accounting & Decarbonization: Shape product capabilities for greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, decarbonization target-setting and tracking (e.g., SBTi, CDP), and audit-ready data lineage—ensuring our platform produces calculations and disclosures that hold up to third‑party assurance.
• Maintain the reference data:Own the emission factor library end to end - sourcing, versioning, provenance, and retirement of superseded editions across DEFRA/DESNZ, EPA GHG Emission Factors Hub, IEA grid factors, and sector‑specific sets. Manage GWP sets across IPCC AR4, AR5, and AR6 and the transition logic between them.
• Client Engagement:Serve as a subject matter expert on carbon accounting and sustainability regulations and standards, providing guidance and support to clients during onboarding, training, and ongoing usage of the platform.
• Requirement Gathering and Prioritization:Collaborate closely with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to gather requirements and understand the needs of various users related to carbon accounting, sustainability compliance and reporting. Work closely with engineering, design, and other cross‑functional teams to prioritize those requests.
• Vibe Coding & Rapid Prototyping:Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to independently build working prototypes, internal tools, and AI applications that accelerate discovery, validate ideas with customers, and deliver solutions.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, business, or related field; Advanced masters degree or MBA preferred.
• Proven track record (5+ years) in climate consulting, or sustainability analyst roles, with significant experience in carbon accounting, sustainability consulting, sustainability framework advice, regulatory counseling, or related domains.
• Deep understanding of the GHG Protocol, ISO 1406X family of standards, sustainability regulations, frameworks, and standards, such as CSRD, CDP, SBTi, PCAF, GRI, SASB, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, EDCI, and others.
• Hands‑on experience building or auditing a full Scope 1–3 inventory under the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard..
• Fluency in emission factor sourcing and application: where factors come from, how editions differ, what breaks when a source revises, and how GWP set changes propagate through a restated inventory.
• Familiarity with sustainability assurance and audit practices (e.g., ISAE 3000/3410, AA1000AS, limited vs. reasonable assurance) and the data lineage, controls, and documentation customers need to pass third‑party audits.
• Understanding of decarbonization strategy, science‑based target setting (SBTi), CDP disclosures, marginal abatement cost curves, scenario analysis, and how companies translate net‑zero commitments into operational reduction plans.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted “vibe coding” tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Replit) to build prototypes, internal tools, or working applications—deep AI/ML engineering background is not required, but you should be comfortable shipping real tools with the help of AI.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity at the intersection of regulated domains and fast‑moving AI—making thoughtful trade‑offs between accuracy, latency, cost, and compliance risk.
• A self‑starter who takes ownership of opportunities and works well independently, manages multiple simultaneous projects, and deals well with ambiguity and last‑minute changes.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product plans.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience working in an agile development environment and familiarity with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
• Experience working with a global team, including the ability and willingness to work outside of regular business hours with Pulsora’s offshore team in India.
