Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Client Voices Promoter to work with refugee and immigrant communities in Wichita, KS. This role partners with program staff to gather feedback, inform program planning, and engage diverse communities in advocacy and leadership activities.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred in relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience.
• Experience working with refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, and/or immigrant populations.
• Community outreach experience preferred.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication in cross-cultural environments.
• Solid organizational skills with ability to juggle tasks and meet deadlines.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written).
• Fluency in other languages and cultures of the local refugee population preferred (Arabic, Swahili, French, Pashto/Dari).
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and travel regularly.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement preferred client engagement and feedback methods tailored to community needs.
• Act as a liaison between IRC and local refugee communities, representing their concerns to office leadership.
• Support client participation in discussions with external partners to amplify their influence on broader community strategies.
• Attend community events and workshops to maintain connections with refugee communities.
• Organize and facilitate leadership and civic engagement training sessions to empower clients as advocates.
• Coordinate community events and focus groups to encourage active client involvement in IRC decision-making.
• Ensure alignment with IRC's client complaints and feedback policies, supporting ethical practices.
• Maintain accurate records of feedback and engagement initiatives to track progress.
• Proactively engage with clients and raise their issues to IRC leadership to inform organizational priorities.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support IRC's mission.

SCOPE OF WORK

IRC believes that designing our strategies and programs based on clients' particular needs and preferences is one of the most critical drivers of impact. We also believe that we have a role to play in working with clients so that they can engage as an equal, influential partner both with IRC and in the broader community through advocacy. The Client Voices Promoters will play a key role in supporting client engagement, and feedback initiatives at the local level. Promoters will work to bring together multi-ethnic, multi-racial and multi-sector constituencies to build the power of refugees and immigrants and the organizations that serve them to ensure their sustainability and improve people\'s lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Undergraduate degree preferred, in relevant field of study.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience.
• Demonstrated experience working with refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, and/or immigrant populations required.
• Community outreach experience preferred.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with colleagues and partners in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment, and the ability to present to a varied public required.
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines required.
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required.
• Fluency in other languages and cultures of the local refugee population including Arabic, Swahili, French and Pashto/Dari is strongly preferred.
• A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area required.

Working Environment

Combination of working in a standard office environment and work in the community including meetings with community partners. Occasional weekend and/or evening work required.

Compensation

(Pay Rate: $20/hr). Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
