Job summary

H 2 O Innovation is seeking a Client Support / Compliance Specialist to assist operations with regulatory compliance and inspections. You will prepare and review monthly reports for our boards, ensure timely submission, and coordinate across departments to maintain environmental and regulatory standards in our North American projects.

The role requires reading and interpreting governmental regulations, writing technical reports, and coordinating with multiple teams to avoid penalties.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate with preferred 2 years experience.
  • Must obtain or be able to obtain a Class D Wastewater and Water license from the TCEQ.
  • Strong time management and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and discretion with confidential information.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations and technical procedures.
  • Experience writing technical reports and business correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly Board Reporting: compile information from billing to break down monthly activities for each District.
  • Ensure required billing reports are received and align with records.
  • Update monthly results from wastewater sampling and highlight discrepancies.
  • Maintain compliance with TCEQ regulatory requirements for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Assist in preparation of TCEQ quarterly reports and EPA discharge reports.
  • Coordinate penalties if any with multiple departments and communicate to inspectors.
  • Support in compliance requests, sample site updates, and customer service queries.
  • Inform Compliance & Client Support Manager of issues or violations.
  • Maintain updated compliance schedules and keep records of compliance information.

Job description

H 2 O Innovation provides public works management services & operations assistance for water & wastewater treatment plants to municipalities, government organizations, and businesses across North America. The Client Support / Compliance Specialist position is responsible for compliance support. Primary responsibilities are to assist operations with ensuring compliance with County, State, and Federal Regulations, be part of a team that assists in regulatory inspections, prepares documentation, and helps with plant readiness as well as prepare and review the monthly reports submitted to the Board of Directors for each of our systems.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monthly Board Reporting: compile information from the billing department to give each of our Districts a breakdown of what has been conducted for that reporting month.
  • Ensure all billing reports needed have been received and match what we are noting.
  • Update the monthly results collected from the wastewater sampling.
  • Attention to detail in each report is essential, we must ensure that if an error was missed, we are bringing that to the attention of the corresponding department to ensure we are providing the most accurate report to each Client Account Manager.
  • Assist in compliance with TCEQ regulatory requirements for both Water and Wastewater Facilities.
  • Become familiar and perform all required duties under TCEQ Regulations
  • Assist in preparation –
  • TCEQ the Quarterly Disinfectant Level Operating Reports.
  • EPA the Net Discharge Monitoring Report for Wastewater Treatment Plants and Annual Sludge Reports.
  • Monthly and annual reports for subsidence districts.
  • Support personnel with ensuring that the facilities comply with all applicable environmental regulations and help avoid penalties. Work with several teams to ensure all facilities comply with all applicable environmental regulations and help avoid penalties.
  • If penalties occur, coordinate documentation submittal to the TCEQ inspector or executive director. This may include communication across multiple departments.
  • Assist employees with compliance requests, such as updating sample sites, flushing points, work orders, customer questions from customer service or any other issues that may need compliance attention.
  • Inform the Compliance & Client Support Manager on wastewater / water related issues, violations, or outstanding compliance items.
  • 100% on-time regulatory report submissions prep (no-late submissions)
  • Address all violations from TCEQ inspections/investigations within 1 business day with whoever in the H 2 o Innovation organization needs to be made aware.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Graduate
  • 2 year experience (preferred)
  • Must obtain or be able to obtain a Class D Wastewater and Water license from the TCEQ.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience handling confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and write technical reports, correspondence, and procedures.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to organize effectively and facilitate process teams to implement facility improvements.
  • Ability to handle quickly changing situations under stress and to work extended hours on short notice when required.
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail and an investigative mindset.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ensure the compliance schedule is updated and samples are scheduled. This includes but is not limited to review of routine reports, compliance tracking systems, policies/procedure implementation, and permit(s) compliance.
  • Maintain recordkeeping systems of compliance-related information.
  • Proficient in the use of software applications such as Excel, Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
Working Conditions
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
  • Occasional work outdoors and exposed to the elements.
  • Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
