Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Patient Service Representative to deliver exemplary customer service while supporting laboratory operations.

You will liaise with laboratory staff, handle scheduling and billing inquiries, and use hospital computer systems to process data and respond to client questions. This role emphasizes accuracy, communication, and a patient‑centric approach.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • 1 year laboratory experience and 1 year customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Coordinate with laboratory personnel to resolve client samples issues.
  • Disseminate test information and answer inquiries to clients.
  • Perform clerical and customer service tasks using hospital systems.
  • Assist with client billing and communicate price changes.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives related to customer service and data collection.

A Patient Service Representative who excels in this role:

  • Utilizesexcellentcustomerserviceskillsatalltimes
  • Workswithotherlaboratorypersonneltoresolveproblemswithlaboratoryclientsamples,andcommunicates resolutions to clients
  • Functionsasliaisonwithclientstodisseminatetestinformation,answerinquiriesandtroubleshootproblems.
  • Performs clericalandcustomer service duties usingelectronic equipment and hospital/laboratorycomputer systems.
  • Assistswithclientbilling.Communicatespricechangestoclients.
  • Assistswithperformance improvement initiatives pertainingto customer service,includingdata collection andcommunication with laboratory leadership team

Assists with orientation and training of personnel and students. Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
