Position Description:

Mathematica applies expertise at the intersection of technology, data, methods, policy, and practice to improve well-being around the world. We collaborate closely with public- and private-sector partners to translate big questions into deep insights that improve programs, refine strategies, and enhance understanding using technology and advanced analytics. Our work yields actionable information to guide decisions in wide-ranging policy areas, from health, education, early childhood, and family support to nutrition, employment, disability, and international development.

The Client Partner / Senior Client Partner will collaborate with area directors to sell data assets and analytics services to Mathematica clients including federal and state governments, commercial organizations, and foundations. Client Partners/Senior Client Partners engage in both proactive and RFP-based business development opportunities, including the development of strategic partnerships that lead to new business.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities and sell data analytic services and product to the key decision makers including C-Level executives, across both IT and lines of business (LOBs) in enterprises in both new and existing client accounts.
  • Lead the growth and expansion of data assets and data analytics
  • Consultatively identify requirements and develop solutions for clients
  • Create and deliver client presentations, write/lead proposals, and respond to RFPs
  • Collaborate with area director to negotiate client contracts
  • Drive deal and contract agreement structure, and define profit margin and monitor client risk
  • Provide leadership and oversight to responses to RFPs and other solicitations, including the development of technical proposal language and budget specifications
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to leadership to develop new technical solutions, partner with existing businesses to offer mature technical solutions for clients, or acquire businesses to enhance Mathematica’s technical solutions portfolio
  • Work collaboratively across technology and advisory services teams
  • Stay connected to technical project delivery by serving in a high-level oversight role
  • Identify current and future staffing resources necessary to win future work and deliver on current work

Position Requirements:
Candidates for the Senior Client Partner role should have 15/+ years of deep experience spanning all of the below areas. Candidates for the Client Partner role should have 15 years of experience across any two of the below areas:

  • Experience as a client partner or in a client facing consulting role
  • Experience in client management and business development environment establishing sales goals and strategies
  • Experience with customer acquisition and retention working directly with economic buyers, leading responses to RFPs including capture planning activities, developing and managing a team of partners, and navigating the connection of sales and delivery teams pre- and post-sales
  • Experience applying technology to provide solutions for decision makers regarding complex policy issues; 10 years of experience positioning data assets and data analytics consulting services

Additional Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in computer science, business, or other related field or equivalent working experience
  • Deep understanding of systems, technology, and data applications across Federal Education and Employment ecosystems.
  • Deep expertise in client management and business development
  • Experience achieving sales goals
  • Deep understanding of positioning data tools, data assets and data analytics consulting services
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Expert at developing impactful presentations and proposals
  • Expert at developing new client relationships
  • Deep knowledge of data analytics and enabling products -
  • Working knowledge of digital processes, technologies, and tools such as Agile, Jira, Confluence, and Tableau
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Experience building and leading teams
  • Highly team-oriented, able to work in a matrixed environment on a fast-moving, growing team
  • Strongly preferred: experience working in a delivery setting to design, develop, implement, configure, or integrate education/employment systems

The Client Partner role offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $160,000 - $200,000. The Senior Client Partner position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $180,000 - $220,000. Both positions are eligible for a dicretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
